Who Are We?

Who Are We?

VertiGrow was founded in 2019 to provide hardware and software solutions for large scale vertical farms. Since then we’ve worked with microgreens farms of all sizes, from 25 to 1000+ flats per week. Our goal has always been the same, to provide tools to the urban farmers who are actively making the world a better place.

The farming industry is in need of reform. As more wild, fertile land is claimed for agriculture, our ecosystems are hurting. Vertical urban farming cannot replace traditional agriculture, but it can supplement the supply chain while using significantly less land and resources.

The COVID-19 pandemic has shown us how fragile long supply chains can be, and how important self sufficiency is. By shortening supply chains, small scale urban farmers are helping solve large scale issues. Growing local provides communities with fresher, cleaner food, and creates jobs and entrepreneurs while keeping more money in the local economy. By bringing the farm closer to the people, we can start to reconnect with the most important products humanity produces.

The VertiGrow Mission

We see a future where urban farming is commonplace, and our mission is to provide best in class tools to the movers and shakers who are out there making that happen. We believe that urban farming can reshape food supply chains, keeping more money in local economies, creating jobs, empowering entrepreneurs, and improving food access and education.

Bill 216

Food Literacy For Students

VertiGrow is part of a group that is working with the Ontario (Canada) government to introduce food education into the curriculum from grades 1 to 12. We believe that students should have the opportunity to not only learn about the food industry, but also get hands-on experience growing food in class.

If you think food literacy is important then please click below to sign the petition for Bill 216, the Food Literacy for Students Act. If you are not in Ontario and you’re interested in the work that this group is doing, get in touch and we can share what we’ve learned to help you start an initiative like this in your community.
